A 40-year-old man will face court today following a burglary with violence in Bundaberg early yesterday morning.

Police allege that a man forced his way into a home on River Terrace in Millbank at 6:30am whilst armed with an iron bar, threatening a man and a woman who were home at the time.

Officers from Bundaberg station arrived at the scene and took a man into custody before anyone was injured.

The Dundarrah man was charged with enter dwelling with intent, unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The arrest comes as Bundaberg Police continue to investigate a number of burglaries across the region.

Senior Constable Danielle Loftus says the offences have been widespread with over 100 reported burglaries still under investigation.

“We’ve had a few homes that have been target in the Svennson Heights area, in Kalkie, also in Bundaberg West, Avoca, Avenell Heights and all scattered across the region.

Some businesses have also been targeted in Bundaberg Central and Thabbeban.”

She’s urging the community to be vigilant.

“Watch out for who might be in your street either in a vehicle if it’s suspicious activity or a person or group of people. Chat to your neighbours as well and make sure you are looking out for them too.”

Anyone with information that could assist investigators should contact Policelink.
