A man in his 20s has been airlifted from K’gari after he injured himself falling down a sand dune.
The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter was called to the scene around 12.30pm yesterday.
It’s believed the man had been running down the dune when he tripped and rolled, landing on the edge of a lake.
The LifeFlight critical care doctor worked with a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic and local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for suspected spinal injuries.
He was flown to Hervey Bay in a stable condition.
The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight helicopter and crew service the Wide Bay-Burnett region and beyond.
