A teenage boy has been airlifted after falling 50 metres down an embankment while hiking at Mount Walsh.

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight rescue helicopter was called to the scene near Biggenden around midday yesterday.

It’s believed the boy had reached the summit of the mountain when he fell down rough terrain, smashing his mobile phone in the fall.

He was able call his mother using his AirPods and she was put in touch with a QPS senior constable who guided the helicopter to the patient.

The critical care LifeFlight doctor, QAS flight paramedic and rescue crew officer was winched down to the teenager.

The medical team treated him for head, chest, neck and pelvis injuries and he was stretcher-winched into the helicopter.

He was airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.
