5 people charged over Avoca shopping centre brawl

Investigations are ongoing following a physical disturbance between two groups of people at an Avoca shopping centre.

Five people have now been charged after the incident at a Takalvan Street shopping centre at around 1.30pm last Friday 9 January.

When police arrived at the scene multiple people were taken into custody, and a woman was treated for minor injuries.

Following further enquires, officers charged several people in relation to the incident.

A 48-year-old man has been charged with affray, possession of a knife in a public place, attempted stealing, stealing.

A 21-year-old New South Wales man has been charged with two counts of stealing, affray, possession of a knife in a public place, obstruct police.

A 43-year-old woman has been charged with affray.

A 19-year-old woman has been charged with affray.

All four are due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on 30 January.

A 16-year-old Avenell Heights boy has been charged with affray.

He is due to appear in Bundaberg Children’s Court on 24 January.

Police are continuing inquiries in relation to other persons involved.
