The Ultimate Upside Down Reunion: Maya Hawke Ties the Knot in Star-Studded NYC Wedding
If there is one thing we have learned from five seasons of Stranger Things, it is that “friends don’t lie”(and they also don’t miss a wedding). Over the weekend, the streets of New York City felt a little more magical (and significantly more famous) as Maya Hawke, our favourite Scoops Ahoy alumna, officially traded the Upside Down for a white gown.
The 27-year-old actress married musician Christian Lee Hutson on Saturday, 14 February. Yes, a surprise Valentine’s Day wedding in Manhattan. It is almost too romantic for those of us still recovering from the emotional rollercoaster of the show’s series finale.
While the nuptials were kept relatively low-key, the guest list was anything but. Maya, the daughter of Hollywood royalty Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, was joined by her younger brother, Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, and her famous parents to celebrate the milestone. However, it was the arrival of her “Hawkins family” that truly sent the internet into a frenzy.

The reunion felt like a graduation party for the Netflix cast. In attendance were Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Sadie Sink. Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton also made an appearance, alongside Joe Keery—Hawke’s on-screen partner-in-crime. Seeing Keery and Hawke together again surely brought a sentimental tear to the eye of anyone who spent years watching Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley navigate Russian spies and teenage angst together.
While many will always see her as Robin Buckley, Maya Hawke is hardly slowing down post-series. With projects like Wishful Thinking, One Night Only, and the highly anticipated The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on her slate, her career is moving into a sophisticated new chapter.
All five seasons of Stranger Things are still available on Netflix for a nostalgic binge-watch. As for Maya and Christian, we wish them a life together that is significantly less stressful than a trip to the Upside Down.
