Harry Styles has sat down shared how difficult the passing of dear friend Liam Payne was to him.

Harry Styles has become a formative part of the music industry ever since his original debut with One Direction in the 2010’s. But despite the boy band eventually breaking up and parting ways, the bands members all remained (for the most part) important to each other. In some truly terrible news, in October of 2024 the world was shocked to hear that Liam Payne, band mate of Harry Styles, had tragically lost his life at the age of 31. Payne passed away after suffering from a fatal fall off a third-floor balcony whilst staying at a hotel in Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Harry Styles has recently opened up about the passing of his beloved band mate, sharing how incredibly difficult it was for him to come to terms with his loss. In a recent interview he admitted that talking about the loss has been an immense difficulty. Here is what he had to say.

“I think there was a period when he passed away where I really struggled with acknowledging how strange it is to have people kind of like own part of your grief in a way, I have such strong feelings around my friend passing away and then suddenly being aware that there’s maybe a desire from other people of you to convey that in some way, or it means you’re not feeling what you’re feeling or something, you know.

“And it’s so difficult to lose a friend. It’s difficult to lose any friend, but it’s so difficult to lose a friend who is so like you in so many ways. It’s like I saw someone with the kindest heart, who just wanted to be great.”

“It was a really important moment for me in terms of taking a look at my life and being able to say to myself, like, ‘OK, what do I want to do with my life? How do I want to live my life?’ And I think the greatest way you can honor your friends who pass away is by living your life to the fullest.”
