Sprint Triathlon 2026

Get ready to race, swim, ride, and run your way through one of Queensland’s most popular community triathlons. This iconic event attracts competitors from across Australia and features a tropical ocean swim, a closed-road cycle, and a scenic coastal run along the Bargara foreshore.

An Aqua Bike category is also available for those who enjoy the swim and ride but prefer to skip the run. Participants can also choose to take part in the 5km run as a standalone event.

The Athletes Guide is available to view online. Registrations are now open, and volunteer registrations are also open.

Event Categories
A range of events are available for all ages and abilities. Junior events include Hatchlings (ages 3–6: 30m wade, 1km bike, 150m run), Milbis (ages 7–9: 100m swim, 2km bike, 300m run), and Turtles (ages 10–12: 200m swim, 3km bike, 500m run).

Additional categories include the GIAT (ages 13+, individuals: 400m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run), Sprint Relay (teams of 2, ages 14+, each participant completes all legs: 400m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run), and the Sprint Triathlon (ages 14+, individuals and mixed teams: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run).

The Aqua Bike (ages 14+) includes a 750m swim and 20km bike with no run segment. There is also an All Abilities event (ages 3–14: 50m wade or swim, 2km bike, 300m run), and a 5km run open to participants aged 14 and over.

Event Schedule
Transition opens at 6:00am and closes at 6:30am. The race brief will be held at 6:35am near the finish chute.

Events begin at 6:45am with individual competitors, all teams, the first members of Sprint Relay teams, 5km runners, and Aqua Bike participants. The GIAT event starts at 7:30am.

Junior races take place after the adult bike leg. Transition reopens at 8:30am and closes at 8:50am. Race briefs and events follow, starting with Hatchlings at 9:00am, Milbis and All Abilities at 9:10am, and Turtles at 9:20am.

All junior participants will wear timing chips and receive a total time only.
