The Hinkler Hall of Aviation has received enhancements through new interactive digital technology.

The Bert Hinkler exhibit will now provide a more immersive and inclusive experience, after changes made possible through funding from the 2023 Building Bush Tourism grant.

The new features further enhance the hall’s Globe Theatre, revitalise storytelling in the Mon Repos diorama and see a new “Make a Memory with Bert” display added to the experience.

“By combining history with interactive technology, we’re creating experiences that inspire pride in our community and encourage more people to discover Bundaberg.

“We are extremely grateful to DETSI for their funding support as this investment has allowed us to deliver a richer tourism experience.”

“We’re very proud to unveil these enhancements which make the hall more interactive, inclusive and enjoyable.”

“Each upgrade adds a new layer of storytelling to Bert’s phenomenal journey.”

The Globe Theatre has introduced closed captioning for hearing-impaired visitors and a touchscreen start option.

This aims to reduce wait times and ensure everyone can enjoy the film from the very beginning with a clear countdown display.

The Mon Repos Diorama now also features updated audio and visuals, meaning guests can hear the story from Bert, his mother Frances and the turtles, with spotlights and animated projections.
