The summer break continues to be a peak time for the region’s tourism operators.

Visitors are expected to flock to Bundaberg from tomorrow as the school holidays get underway.

Bundaberg Tourism marketing coordinator Connie Rixon says most visitors are coming from within Queensland.

“We’ve seen strong visitation from South East Queensland and that is both from people who are experiencing Bundaberg for the first time, people coming up to visit friends and family and also those return visitors.”

Accommodation bookings are almost full.

“Over the past six months we’ve seen significant growth in the region as visitors are continuing to explore the Bundaberg region and this is definitely reflected in our accommodation bookings. There is some availability but it has been very strong,” Ms Rixon says.

She adds bookings for the Mon Repos turtle encounter are also performing strongly across the entire season.
