As temperatures begin to rise across the region, Bundaberg Regional Council is throwing out the welcome mat to the region’s public pools.
Gin Gin Swimming Pool will reopen for the new swim season on September 19 and users will notice a new retractable shade system currently being installed.
The motorised sail can be extended or retracted at the push of a button to provide flexibility throughout the day.
The system also features automatic wind sensors which will retract the sail during high wind conditions, helping protect the structure during storms and severe weather events.
Meanwhile, following its winter maintenance closure, the Isis War Memorial Swimming Pool has reopened and is ready to welcome swimmers.
A range of improvements were completed during the closure, including the replacement of the accessible toilet facility with a modern new amenity.
Works were also carried out on the pool’s external wall, with deteriorated concrete treated and reinstated to help future proof the structure for years to come.
There’s also Norville Park Swimming Pool, which reopened at the beginning of the month after welcoming over 57,000 patrons across the last swim season.
Last, but not least, residents are being reminded the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre remains open year round, offering heated indoor swimming, programs and activities for all ages.
