An elderly woman is recovering from smoke inhalation after a fire swept through her Walkervale home.
The alarm was raised around midday Tuesday with six fire crews responding.
They managed to stop the blaze from spreading to neighbouring properties on Buzza Street.
Bundaberg Station Officer Trevor Farraway says a candle started the fire.
“Just with the wind conditions at the moment the candle has come into contact with some curtains in the front bedroom,” he says.
Meantime, another blaze broke out at Redridge, near Childers early Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Garryowen Road home around 2:30am.
A woman in her 60s was treated for smoke inhalation.
A fire investigator is working to determine the cause.
