Locals urged to stay ahead of licence renewals

Bundaberg Police say there has been an increase in weapons being stored at the police station for safekeeping due to expired licences.

They’re asking locals to remember to renew their weapons licences on time to avoid the inconvenience.

“It’s important to note that Weapons Licence reminder notices may only be sent to current email or address locations. So, please ensure these details remain current and updated should you make a change. It is your responsibility to keep track of your licence’s expiry date which generally coincides with your date of birth,” a Queensland Police spokesperson says.

“To ensure a smooth renewal process, make sure to renew your licence at least one day before it expires. Remember, renewing early comes with cost savings, as renewing after the expiry date will require you to apply for a new licence at a higher fee.

Keep in mind that Weapons Licences can be issued for up to 10 years, so ensure reminders are scheduled leading up to the expiry date to avoid any inconvenience.”
