Bundaberg recorded its highest October temperature yesterday, at a top of 35 degrees.

It will be cooler today, set to reach 24 degrees with the chance of rain and a possible storm.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jonathan Howe says record temperatures were seen in several areas across the state.

‘We did see October records be broken at Bundaberg, down at Brisbane Airport, also the Gold Coast, Coolangata and down towards Byron Bay – all seeing their hottest October days on record.

‘But we are seeing that change push through much of south east Queensland an Northern New South Wales, so widespread rain and thunderstorms today.’

Meanwhile, more than 100 homes are still without power in the Bundaberg region following a storm on Sunday night.

Ergon is currently working to fix the issue, affecting residents in parts of Buxton, Childers, Isis River and Woodgate.
