The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man from K’gari (Fraser Island) after he became ill a while swimming in a lake and had to be dragged from the water by friends.
It’s believed he had walked to the lake on the Eastern side of the island.
The aeromedical chopper was tasked to the scene at around 4pm Thursday.

It was decided to winch the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic down to provide immediate treatment and secure the patient into a stretcher.
The man and the medical crew were then hoisted up to the safety of the helicopter.
The patient, aged in his 30s, was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
