If you work in the building and construction industry, tender for government building projects or supply related goods and services to the industry, QBCC are conducting a webinar providing vital information on protecting payment rights.
As well as being able to login yourself, Bundaberg Regional Council will host an event introducing a series of reforms to improve security of payment for subcontractors through the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017.
The reforms include project bank accounts, which commenced on 1 March 2018 for government projects, and reforms to progress payments, adjudication and subcontractors’ charges, which will commence 17 December 2018.
The online webinar will provide an overview of how the reforms work to protect subcontractors’ payments, and what head contractors, consultants and subcontractors should do to prepare.
The content to be addressed at the webinar includes:
•Understand the changes
•Learn how the changes affect you – the simpler adjudication process
•Payment claims and payment schedules – what to do if you don’t get paid
•Understand contract requirements – when and why?
•What is the QBCC doing to help the industry succeed
Registrations are now open for the session which will be held on Wednesday, 5 December from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Bargara Cultural Centre, Hughes Road.
Or, register with QBCC if you wish to view the webinar online separately.
