Little Women, based on the book of the same name by Louisa May Alcott, finishes its successful season at the Playhouse Theatre this weekend.
Audiences have been effusive in their praise of the production, featuring many of Bundaberg’s leading actresses.
On the Playhouse Theatre’s Facebook page Patricia Brown said “thank you Playhouse Bundaberg - a truly stellar performance at Sunday’s matinee. I’ve said it before. Bundaberg has so much talent. I had a few tears at the end. Just beautiful”.
Lynda Fincham agreed. “Humour, pathos, family love all brilliantly portrayed. My friends and I love all your productions and are always blown away by incredible talent and enthusiasm right here on Bundy”.
Little Women was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869 by American author Louisa May Alcott, with the story following the lives of the four March sisters— Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. It details their passage from childhood to womanhood and is loosely based on the author and her three sisters.
The play is based on the first volume, ending with Beth recovering from illness and the family getting a surprise visitor. The Bundaberg Players Inc. production is directed by Lyn Greer and Ian Rehbein.
Performances are on this Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm. Tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for Concession and Groups. Tickets can be bought at the box office an hour before performances or online at the Playhouse website www.theplayhousetheatre.org.au
