Applications are now open for Performers, Stallholders and Volunteers to be involved in the 1770 Festival in May, 2020.

The 2020 festival theme is “Encounters in Country” and organisers are very excited that the next year the annual event marks the 250th anniversary of Cook’s landing in this birthplace of Queensland, the Town of 1770.

The community will celebrate with the “Encounters in Country” theme, while the world watches on, with an emphasised Program from 6th to 31st May 2020.

The traditional Festival Weekend falls on the dates that Lt Cook and his landing party anchored and visited, which was 23 and 24 May 1770.

So the much loved Indigenous Performances, Street Parade, Re-enactment of the landing, festival stallholders, workshops and live entertainment will be held on the Festival Weekend 22 – 24 May 2020.

The Indigenous Welcome Ceremony that has been part of the annual event for all of its 27 years, will be performed on Friday 22 May 2020, at the opening of Festival Weekend at the SES Grounds in the Town of 1770. Organisers are excited to begin the 1770 Festival Weekend earlier, at 2pm on Friday 22 May, to allow patrons and personalities alike to soak in all the planned activities for this commemorative year.
