Some local resorts are welcoming more visitors than usual, despite the COVID-19 downturn.
Loni Hammond from Kelly's Beach Resort Bargara says they were hit hard by the lockdowns.
"(We were) 88 per cent down from last year," she said.
"Emotionally it has been really crazy.
"It's great to see that it's heading in the right direction.
"Let's just hope it keeps heading that way, for sure," Ms Hammond said.
So far, the school holidays has brought an influx of travellers from within the state.
"Queenslanders were really great in supporting us," Ms Hammond said.
"We were close to five per cent up in occupancy, compared to last year."
