Locals could have a one-in-a-million-tree planted in their own front yard.
Bundaberg Regional Council have set a target to plant one million trees target over the next four years to help offset emissions and benefit the environment.
Mayor Jack Dempsey said it is an ambitious program but working together, we can make it happen.
“There will be opportunities for volunteers to get involved when the project begins,” he said.
“We also envisage that residents will be able to access native tube stock to plant native species on residential properties.”
A register of sites where the permanent trees can be planted will be established, such as Council freehold property and private landholdings.
The program is expected to commence on 1 October 2020 and continue until 30 September 2024.
