Detectives have charged a man following the alleged arson of a residential unit in Pialba on Friday night.
At around 9.10pm emergency services were called to Hunter Street following reports a unit was on fire.
The unit, which was unoccupied at the time, was completely destroyed by the blaze.
At around the same time, a woman in her 60s told police she had been assaulted and imprisoned at the unit, before she was able to escape.
A 38-year-old Torquay man was later charged with one count each of arson, serious assault and deprivation of liberty.
He was set to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Saturday.
No one was injured during the fire.
