Many locals are looking forward to having the whole family gather around the table this Christmas, thanks to the Queensland borders reopening today.
Interstate visitors are set to provide a boost for accommodation and tourism providers as well with Bundaberg Tourism seeing a huge influx of online traffic to see what's on offer across the Southern Great Barrier Reef region.
Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid says a lot of people are keen to get out, booking flights to Brisbane and then Brisbane on to Bundaberg.
"We've had an increase of around 64 per cent of hits on our website of people from Victoria and New South Wales exploring what to do and see and accommodation availability across the Bundaberg region," Ms Reid says.
"We've also had a lot of friends and family excited about coming home for Christmas."
