Bundaberg police are looking to boost their efforts to catch drug drivers in the region.
Officers in other regional Queensland areas are currently undertaking training to be able to conduct drug driving tests.
Inspector Anne Volger says drug driving is a serious problem in Bundaberg, and its officers will join in on training programs later in the year.
"With drugs in the community we need to have more people trained, and that's something that moving throughout the year we'll be looking to do," Inspector Volger says.
She says driving with drugs in the system can be fatal to those in the community, and officers want to reduce the risk.
"Statistics show that if you have drugs in your system, you're ten times more likely to be responsible for causing a crash - that's not a statistic that they will like to read."
