Three dogs have been put down after a woman was mauled to death at a home on the Fraser Coast.
The 41-year-old had been attacked by three pit bulls on Tuesday morning at a house on Milton Street, in Maryborough.
She suffered serious injuries to her head, chest and arm. She tragically died at the scene.
The dogs - which were not registered with council - were being looked after by people living at the home.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour says council had no choice but to put the dogs down.
"The dogs were immediately detained and were euthanized last night after the owner surrendered the dogs and Police gave their approval," Mr Seymour says.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner, but there will be no criminal investigation.
Mr Seymour says the community has been left shaken.
“Our condolences and thoughts are with the family.
“This is a tragic event that is now subject to a police investigation and until the coronial inquest has been undertaken, we cannot comment on the circumstances surrounding the incident," he says.
