Local parents are being urged to get their children's car seats checked.
Free car seat safety checks will be held from 8am to 1pm today in the Hinkler Central car park, where professionals from Kidsafe Queensland will be on hand to help install seats correctly.
Burnett MP Stephen Bennett says more often than not kid seats aren't put in properly.
"We know that 80 percent of car seats fitted by parents are not correctly done," Mr Bennett says.
"I think those statistics alone just makes you shudder, as a father and a grandfather that those sort of things happen."
Mr Bennett is calling on local parents to head along to the event.
"It's really scary that 80% aren't installed correctly ... so let's do the best we can for the young people in our community," Mr Bennett says.
"Let's make sure Bundy bubs are buckled up."
