Bundaberg has missed out on a $5 billion dollar deal that is expected to create jobs for the next three decades.
The State Government announced on Friday army tanks will be manufactured by German firm Rheinmetall in Maryborough.
Member for Bundaberg Leanne Donaldson says it's a win for region's broader economy and locals should still apply for tenders.
“We see businesses from Hervey Bay and Maryborough working in Bundaberg. I don’t see this will be any different where we will see Bundaberg businesses working in Maryborough.”
“We’re not that far up the road and I expect that there will be a lot of Bundaberg industry that will be very competitive in tendering for work.”
The project will see 225 state-of-the-art combat reconnaissance vehicles built for Australian Defence.
