It’s time to get out your lightsabers and rock around the Christmas tree because there is another Star Wars instalment out in time for the school holidays.
The Resistance and Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron endure towards the final battle against the First Order. The family trees and the power of the force thickens in this plot.
Ben Solo/Kylo Ren and Rey (Just Rey as she quotes not knowing her family lineage), battle it out using the force and the tension between the characters has you on the edge of your seat.
The script references the past Star Wars films well. For example, C3PO’s subplot will bring back nostalgic memories whilst Chewbacca, R2D2 and the newer droids, including BB8 are along for the ride.
After Carrie Fisher’s passing in 2016, the directors used recycled footage and CGI to adapt the story of Leia. A running theme in Star Wars is family, and the family connection of real-life mother and daughter working together in the newer films is unique. Keep an eye out for actress, Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), who is Carrie Fisher’s real-life daughter. Lourd is an actress to keep watching, especially after her roles in the acclaimed TV series, American Horror Story. The recent season named 1984 had an incredible plot and Lourd was definitely a stand-out.
With the rush to the lead up to Christmas, the hysteria over cute Baby Yoda from the new Disney Plus Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, it feels as though this new Star Wars film has crept up on us and it’s an important part of the saga that you don’t want to miss!
Starring Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver.
