A man has been charged with stalking and intimidation after he allegedly threatened the residents of a home in Maitland, northern NSW.
Police were called to a property in Thornton just before 12.45pm on August 1 over concerns for the residents inside. They allege they found a man armed with a gun who poured petrol over the front door and threatened to set it on fire.
He fled from police, jumping a rear fence and disappearing into bushland. After a week-long operation, police arrested the 27-year-old man in Metford about 9.45pm on Friday.
He has been charged with stalking/intimidating, going armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possessing an unauthorised firearm, and in relation to an outstanding arrest warrant.
He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.
