Sunny skies have returned to the Rum City following the weekend’s drenching.
158.4 millimetres were recorded at Bundaberg Airport on Saturday, more than double the October average of 76.7 millimetres.
Meantime, residents closer to the coast say their gauges filled to around 190 millimetres.
Gabrielle Branescu from the Bureau of Meteorology says the system responsible has now cleared.
“That low pressure system that formed just off the Wide Bay early in the weekend it deepened and moved south across the Sunshine Coast area but has stayed offshore,” he says.
Flash flooding closed several roads across the region with most now open as floodwaters recede.
But more rain could be on the way for Queensland as another system moves in from the west.
“Thinking more sort of classic Spring weather for Queensland. Today (Monday) we have showers and thunderstorms forecast over the Central parts also pushing into the Wide Bay area. There is a chance for severe thunderstorms as well,” Mr Branescu says.
