The union representing Queensland’s state school teachers has thanked the community for its support.
It comes as many Bundaberg state school teachers join 50,000 fellow union members on strike – fighting for better working conditions and pay.
Queensland Teachers’ Union president, Cresta Richardson, said the state government has made an unsatisfactory pay offer to them.
“We can’t let more teachers and school leaders walk out the door,” Ms Richardson said.
“Today is a day to remind everyone how important our state schools are.”
The union is also seeking a resolution to issues such as teacher retention in regional areas, workplace violence, and increasing workloads.
Bundaberg QTU members will hold a stop-work meeting at the Brothers Sports Club.
Check with your local state school regarding alternate arrangements for attendance.
