The Sunshine State is living up to its name, becoming the country’s leader for solar.

It’s estimated new solar systems are connected every 11 minutes in Queensland.

Per capita, Bundaberg has the highest number of rooftop solar installations followed by Hervey Bay then Caloundra.

The move to clean energy is slowly taking over.

The Bargara Battery Substation has been switched on, connecting three Tesla batteries to the grid.

Solar will be absorbed during the middle of the day and then sent out to the community during peak demand, such as the evening.

The batteries can power up to 500 homes a day and it’s hoped the clean energy will drive down power costs.
