Bundaberg has held onto its position as Australia’s most generous city.
Fundraising platform, GoFundMe, has released its 2024 Year in Help Report.
Regional Director Nicola Britton says Sunshine State residents are the most likely to donate to causes.
“When it comes to generosity in Queensland, the community has really come together. Over 16,000 fundraisers were launched from the state this year, Queensland residents donated over $23 million dollars on GoFundMe in 2024,” she says.
“Some of the top fundraisers from Queensland this year include the heartbreaking diagnosis of two parents, Claire and Aaron, who are both fighting battles with cancer – that received over $266 thousand dollars.
“Also this year we saw a GoFundMe for Baby Luca who you may remember had hot coffee thrown over him – the community responded raising over $230k.”
Bundaberg was crowned the most generous city last year and has maintained the top spot. The positions are based on the number of donors per capita.
