The Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett, said the changes would be good news for the sector.

“This latest stock assessment means we can see more of one of Queensland’s most iconic fish back on the plates of fishers and seafood lovers,” Mr Bennett said.

“This is a step in the right direction to get the balance right between protecting our fish stocks and still being able to drop a line in and jag this awesome fish.”

Consultation ends at 5pm Wednesday October 8.
