A man has broken his ankle after falling several metres down a mountain southwest of Childers.
Emergency services were called a popular mountain in the North Burnett on Friday afternoon.
It’s believed the hiker, who is aged in his 20s, was making his way down the mountain with a group, when he slipped and fell approximately 8 metres.
Local QFES and QAS paramedics managed to reach him on foot.
Due to the steep terrain, it was decided it was safest to winch the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue team and a stretcher to the patient.
The aeromedical crew treated him for a broken ankle before securing him into the stretcher.
The hiker was then winched up into the helicopter and flown to Bundaberg Hospital for further treatment.
