Man charged over 2018 fatal crash

A truck driver has been charged five years after allegedly causing a crash that killed a mother and daughter.

It will be alleged on Monday, November 5, 2018, the man was driving a small rigid truck south on Gin Gin Road.

Around 7.40am, just after Woods Road, the truck has veered onto the opposite side of the road and collided with a Holden Commodore travelling in the opposite direction.

A 46-year-old woman who was driving the car was pronounced deceased at the scene and a 12-year-old girl was transported to the Bundaberg Base Hospital, however passed away later that day from injuries sustained in the traffic crash.

A 15-year-old boy, who was also a passenger in the car, received minor injuries and the man driving the truck was not physically injured.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man when he flew into Brisbane on November 29.

The man has been charged with one count of driving without due care and attention in relation to the crash.

He appeared before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 30 and was given court bail to appear on December 13, 2023.
