Results of Bundaberg road blitz

Bundaberg Highway Patrol officers have conducted a high visibility operation targeting dangerous driving and fatal five offences.

Between March 3 and 5, police carried out just under 300 random breath tests (RBT) resulting in one positive drink driver.

A 40-year-old Woongarra man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and is set to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on March 17.

Ten random drug tests (RDT) were conducted, with half returning a negative result and five notice to appears issued for positive results.

Over 40 traffic infringement notices were issued to motorists for offences including failing to give way, speeding, driver use mobile phone, driving without a licence, defective vehicle, unregistered trailer and non-compliant modification to vehicles.

Hooning offences (wilfully drive vehicle in a way that makes unnecessary noise or smoke) were also among these infringement notices, with one vehicle seized for 90 days while another was immobilised for 90 days.

During the operation an 18-year-old Kalkie man was caught lighting fireworks in public.

The 18-year-old Kalkie man was arrested and charged with authority needed to use explosives and authority required to possess explosives.

He is set to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on March 27.
