Snake bites traveller at rest stop

A woman’s been flown to Bundaberg Hospital after a quick road trip break took a turn for the worse.

It’s believed she was bitten while at a rest stop on the side of the Bruce Highway south of Miriam Vale.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene around 11am Sunday.

The pilot landed on the road and the aeromedical team joined local paramedics in treating the woman before she was flown to hospital in a stable condition.

It’s unknown which species of snake was involved.
