A woman has broken her leg after falling about two metres down a cliff at Utopia Falls in the Bundaberg region.

The alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon with the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter responding just after 2pm.

It’s believed she was walking around a rock pool at the time.

An off-duty paramedic kept her stable before the aeromedical team arrived.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic was winched down to assess the woman’s injuries.

Due to the rocky terrain and lack of landing area, the rescue crew decided it was safest to winch the QAS Flight Paramedic, along with a stretcher, down to the patient.

The helicopter pilot landed the aircraft nearby while the Flight Paramedic treated the patient and strapped her into the stretcher.

The pilot then circled back to carefully hoist the aeromedical crew member and the injured woman back into the helicopter.
