The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a woman from the deck of a cruise ship after she suffered a medical emergency around 7:30 Monday morning.

The cruise ship changed course and diverted to an area north of Bundaberg following the woman’s cardiac-related incident.

A critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic were winched down to the vessel.

The helicopter hovered nearby for around half an hour while the medical team treated the woman and prepared her for the airlift.

She was carefully loaded onto a stretcher and winched up to the helicopter.

The paramedic and medical equipment were hoisted separately, before the helicopter returned to the Bundaberg base for refueling.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was then flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, for further treatment.
