If you thought the slushie craze had peaked, think again. The battle of the frozen-drink makers is heating up just in time for summer — and Aldi has officially entered the chat.

After the $499.99 Ninja slushie maker went viral and Kmart’s $179 dupe sold out almost instantly, Aldi is about to unveil its own challenger. The supermarket is dropping a $199 slushie maker as part of its Special Buys on Wednesday, 26 November, and it’s already tipped to be one of the most in-demand items of the season.

Aldi’s machine is modelled on the much pricier Ninja version but comes in at less than half the cost. It features five drink presets — slushie, frappe, milkshake, cocktail, and even wine — making it a proper multitasker for hot days and summer entertaining.

You’ll also find a digital touch panel, self-cleaning mode, and an insulation function to keep drinks cool while you prep the next round.

Aldi isn’t stopping at slushies

Alongside the slushie maker, Aldi is releasing its Ice Cream and Frozen Treat Maker for $179, another product drawing comparisons to a high-end rival — the Ninja Creami Deluxe. The Aldi version comes with 10 presets, a mix-in function for custom flavours, a self-cleaning mode, a mixing bowl, and storage for three containers.

Early shoppers have already singled out these two appliances as the standout items in Aldi’s “Black Wednesday” Special Buys, which also includes an inflatable movie screen and an electric golf trolley.

Aldi has confirmed both frozen-treat machines will land in the centre aisle on Wednesday, 26 November, with a spokesperson saying:

“This year’s Black Friday line-up at Aldi is cooler than ever, with our new Ice Cream and Frozen Treat Maker ($179) and 2L Slushie Maker ($199) arriving just in time for Aussies to whip up refreshing drinks and delicious treats as summer heats up.”

As always, stock is limited. If these appliances are on your wish list, you’ll want to set an alarm — because once they hit the shelves, they’re unlikely to stick around.
